CORA Classroom Champion 2009 Award CriteriaEach year, CORA Services hosts an event to celebrate its anniversary and raise money for its mission in order to continue the work of its founder Sister Charity and the Sisters of the Good Shepard. Rooted in a tradition of care and compassion, the mission of CORA Services is to assist children, youth and families experiencing emotional, academic and social challenges which impede their development and productivity. Traditionally, the CORA Services Award is presented to business and community leaders for their contributions toward the growth and enrichment of local children and families. This year, CORA Services will also recognize a student for their achievements in the classroom and in their community. True to our mission of assisting children and families, the winner of the CORA Classroom Champion Award will receive a $1000 scholarship to be used for their future development and education. This scholarship will be awarded to a high school student who best exemplifies the qualities of an emerging leader, as well as the faith, compassion, optimism, courage and call to service that founder Sister Charity embodied. Nominees will be evaluated on scholastic ability, character, personality, leadership potential, and community service. Read More. Proceeds will benefit the comprehensive educational, counseling and referral programs provided by CORA Services to close to 20,000 children and families throughout the Philadelphia area each year. CORA Services has been helping families in the Philadelphia region for more than 37 years. With reduced funding from the government for many programs throughout the city, including CORA's, your support is needed more than ever.
