The Neumann CenterAn alternative education and job training program, the Neumann Center serves students who have dropped out of public, private or parochial school. The Center supports these students' efforts to obtain a GED, computer and clerical skills and life skills. Students come from every part of the city to participate in job training, job placement assistance, counseling, drug and drug and alcohol prevention programs, and to clarify short and long term career goals. These "at-risk" youth, ages 16-21, must have a 7th grade reading and 5th grade math level and pass an interview to enter the program.Neumann also operates an outline bookstore that sells used and hard-to-find and out-of-print books, called Bookworks. Community residents may donate books for a tax deduction. Proceeds allow the Center to provide work experience for youth currently attending the program. The community may also obtain books, FREE of charge from the Bookworks trailer behind of the building. Call 215-535-2957 for details.
