Nonpublic School ServicesThrough Pennsylvania's Act 89, CORA Services provides the following services in area nonpublic schools.COUNSELING SERVICESCounseling services are designed to support the healthy growth and development of the total child in his/her world of home, school, and community. Counselors work with students who are experiencing school-related problems or difficulties that are situational or developmental in nature.Guidance Programs provide large group educational experiences to help students understand and deal with normal developmental issues such as: Careers and Decision-Making, Peer Relationships, Conflict Resolution, Personal Safety, and Stress Management. Career Development Resource Center programs are designed to provide eighth grade students with an introduction to the world of work. It assists them in developing self-awareness, career awareness, and decision making skills. EDUCATIONAL SERVICESEducational Services are designed for elementary and high school students who are experiencing significant academic difficulty in the areas of reading and math. The goal of the program is to facilitate a positive and long-term adjustment of each child's particular difficulty, enabling him or her to function appropriately in the classroom.Homebound Services are designed to provide a continuation of the instructional program for students who are absent from school for a period of at least four weeks for certified medical reasons. The homebound teacher becomes the link between the classroom teacher and the student. PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICESPsychological Services are designed to provide consultative and diagnostic services with a goal of identifying possible sources of a referred child's difficulties, particularly in the intellectual and personality functioning areas.SPEECH SERVICESSpeech Services are designed to identify, evaluate, and provide therapy services to those students who evidence communication disorders.
